The protagonist Zhou Zhiming represents an era, an era that has long passed us by, an era where blood and iron could forge a true police officer. It is evident that Haiyan, in her debut work, exudes the Zhou Zhiming-style beliefs and integrity. The young detective Zhou Zhiming, in order to protect the elderly comrade Shi Bo and his family, risks the danger of dereliction of duty, destroys the film as "evidence," and ends up in prison. Several years later, he is exonerated and returns to the public security organ. Shi Jihong reports her boyfriend Lu Yuanchao as a thief, and her sister Shi Xiaomeng bravely comes forward to defend Lu Yuanchao in court. However, Zhou Zhiming believes that with Xiaomeng's background, she could not possibly have such extensive knowledge of astronomy. Who then provided her with the astronomical data? A mysterious foreign businessman is arrested for espionage. The public security organ discovers that he has the same voice as a fugitive, despite having different appearances. This makes Zhou Zhiming recall the 311 case, which has been for years. The novel deliberately portrays Zhou Zhiming's upright, honest, and dutiful character.
