Features: Tang Jiyao, commander of the "Bi Fei Army" division, later governed Yunnan for eighteen years. He served as the commander of the Corps, dispatched troops to fight against Japan in Yunnan, constructed the Yunnan-Burma Road, and supported the Chinese Expeditionary Force. He opposed Chiang Kai-shek's autocracy, supported the patriotic democratic movement, and secretly joined the China Democratic League and the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang. He incurred Chiang Kai-shek's suspicion and was forced to leave Yunnan after the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan. He served as the President of the Military Advisory Council of the Kuomintang, but held a nominal position similar to house arrest. With the help of Claire Chennault, he disguised himself and escaped to Hong Kong to promote the Yunnan Uprising. He then traveled north to join the people's government and participated in the First Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
