Features: Urbanization is an inevitable trend of agricultural industrialization and rural economic and social modernization. The 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China determined the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and identified accelerating the process of urbanization as a key task in achieving this goal. The development of urbanization can bring about significant changes in social and economic relations, drive major transformations in the land use of urban and rural areas, and consequently lead to a series of issues related to coordinated rural-urban development. Urbanization must rely on land use, and land plays an extremely important role in the process of urbanization. Whether it is adjusting industrial structures, concentrating populations, or constructing infrastructure, all must be achieved through the reallocation of land. Therefore, in the process of urbanization, efficient and intensive land use is of great practical significance in promoting the formation of a rational structure, complementary functions, and maximized comprehensive benefits in urban land use systems. This paper conducts research on land use within the macro context of China's rapid urbanization. The evolution of population structure, industrial structure, social structure, and land use structure during urbanization not only occurs in cities but also in rural areas. Currently, there are many problems in land use during China's urbanization process, and these problems affect and constrain the urbanization process. Identifying existing and potential problems in land use during urbanization, exploring the dynamic changes in land use, analyzing the influencing factors of land use, and finding measures and approaches to prevent short-term and blind development in land use during urbanization are key research topics of this paper. Through land use system reform, particularly reforming the current rural land use system, achieving land use system innovation and establishing an effective land transfer mechanism can be realized. Analyzing the potential of urban land use during urbanization, reasonably determining urban land use scale, establishing a scientific urban land use evaluation system, and analyzing land use benefits can advance the urbanization process. These are the key research questions of this paper. "Research on Land Use Problems in China's Urbanization Process" was proposed based on the above approach. The main research contents of the paper are as follows:
1. The paper elaborates on the significant importance of studying land use problems during the rapid stage of urbanization, conducting an in-depth and systematic analysis of the macro background of China's urbanization process, including the basic national conditions, historical background, and policy and institutional background.
2. The paper clarifies the connotation of urbanization, summarizes the basic characteristics and development stages of China's urbanization, and objectively analyzes the operational mechanisms of urbanization. Looking at the development of urbanization worldwide and considering China's national conditions regarding land resources, it is necessary to take a path of urbanization with Chinese characteristics.
3. The paper identifies the problems in land use during China's urbanization process and analyzes the factors influencing land use during urbanization.
4. The paper analyzes the impact of different urbanization models on land use problems and the patterns of land use changes during urbanization.
5. The paper determines the scale of urban land use during urbanization, analyzes the potential of urban land use, and conducts a comprehensive evaluation of urban land use.
6. The paper proposes countermeasures for land use during urbanization.
