Features: In March 1988, the Shanghai Modern Linguistics Symposium (renamed "Shanghai Modern Linguistics Research Association" in 1990, abbreviated as X·Y) was initiated with the support of the Language and Literature Publishing House, in collaboration with the editorial departments of "Journal of Language and Literature" and "Chinese Language Learning." The inaugural National Modern Linguistics Symposium was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. This anthology of essays was compiled from over 60 submissions presented at the conference, striving to reflect the essence of the discussions. The collection includes 32 speeches and papers totaling 350,000 words, aiming to embody the core spirit of the symposium and contribute significantly to the exploration of Chinese language theory in our country. Several notable papers were presented at the conference, such as Fan Xiao's "On Grammatical Sentences," Shi Youwei's "Domain and Tension," and Yu Zhihong's "Postpositions in Yuan Dynasty Chinese," among others.
