Features: The study of calligraphy generally involves two stages. The first stage is the basic strokes and radicals, and the second stage is the structure of characters. "Student Yongzi Eight Methods Brush Calligraphy Manuscript" is a highly practical calligraphy book written for beginners and students in primary and secondary schools, based on these two points. For beginners in calligraphy, it is advisable to choose regular script rubbings from the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty was a golden age in the history of Chinese calligraphy, especially regular script, where a variety of styles flourished and master calligraphers emerged. Among them, Ou Yangxun, Yan Zhenqing, and Liu Gongquan are particularly renowned. Their regular script is rigorous, dignified, and vigorous, with achievements that remain unmatched to this day, serving as models for generations of calligraphers. Each master's style has its own unique research and methods in brushwork, forming distinctive characteristics. Yan's script is primarily characterized by dignified and majestic strokes, combining square and round forms. The starting stroke is often hidden, the movement is steady and firm, with distinct thin horizontal and thick vertical strokes. The lifting and pressing of the brush are clear, and during turns, the brush is slightly lifted and pressed lightly, creating an inner square and outer round shape. The ending stroke is sharp and thick, forming a unique style. The model characters in this book are selected from Yan Zhenqing's representative regular script work, "Qinli Stele." The original characters from the stele have been restored to ink traces, making them closer to the true works of the calligraphy master. Additionally, the brush movements are moderately enlarged and illustrated with fine white lines, providing a clear and intuitive understanding, which helps learners improve their copying skills. To facilitate teaching and self-study, this book follows the principle of progressing from simple to complex, arranging the content in the order of basic strokes, radicals, and the 92 methods of character structure. The annotations and explanations of brushwork and structural rules are designed to be easy to understand and concise, providing beginners with a relatively complete and step-by-step guide to calligraphy. This set of calligraphy books is suitable for primary and secondary school students and calligraphy instructors for basic practice and teaching reference. Through this book, students can also master the key points of calligraphy proficiency exams, accurately express the strokes in the "Eight Methods of Yongzi," and better coordinate the thickness, length, weight, response, and other structural skills between strokes. They can also carefully appreciate the characteristics of Yan Zhenqing's regular script and accurately grasp the spirit and style of the original manuscript.
