Features: The tourism industry of our country has entered the fiercely competitive international tourism market, and its international status is rapidly improving. In the 21st century, China will undoubtedly become a major source of tourism in Asia and even the world, and also a major tourism destination country. The tourism industry of our country will face greater opportunities and challenges. To adapt to this rapidly developing situation, general foreign language knowledge is not enough for tourism professionals in our country; they must also learn some professional foreign language knowledge and practical tourism English skills to better cope with various tourism activities. For this purpose, I have compiled the Practical Tourism English Series. This book is one of the series, aiming to further improve the oral communication skills of tourism professionals and tourism students currently enrolled in tourism-related programs.
Practical Tourism English Oral Communication consists of 26 units, each of which is divided into 4-5 parts. These include:
1. Dialogues, dialogue fill-ins, and writing dialogues based on given situations;
2. Answering questions based on the text and retelling the text using the knowledge and vocabulary learned;
3. Oral practice;
4. Reading exercises, adapting reading materials into dialogues or conducting oral summaries and;
5. First filling in the article with the given vocabulary in appropriate grammatical forms, and then reciting, retelling, or converting the article into a dialogue with a partner, as required.
Additionally, this textbook includes "Answer Key" and "Phrase List" at the back to facilitate learners in systematically mastering professional tourism English vocabulary. The textbook not only introduces the important role of the hotel and restaurant industry in tourism activities but also covers various aspects such as general tourism knowledge, natural and cultural landscapes, cultural differences between China and other countries, dietary differences between China and other countries, famous historical and cultural cities in China and other countries, historical figures, and anecdotes. Through in-depth reading and oral training, this textbook can not only help professionals, those planning to work in the tourism industry, and tourism students currently enrolled in tourism-related programs build a solid foundation in tourism English oral communication but also broaden the knowledge and enhance the communication skills of non-tourism majors or those who are passionate about English language learning.
