Features: Since the late 1970s, more than two decades have been a period of transformation and development in rural finance in China. First, the government implemented a series of reform measures in the field of rural finance, such as the restoration of the Agricultural Bank of China, the detachment of rural credit cooperatives from the Agricultural Bank of China, the establishment of the Agricultural Development Bank of China, and the confirmation of the commercial financial status of the Agricultural Bank of China, among others. Second, the introduction of microfinance projects in rural China led to changes in rural credit models. Third, the profound impact of the Asian financial crisis on China's agriculture and rural economy brought about changes in the rural financial landscape, and so on. This book provides a rational judgment on the process of this transformation and development and its impact. Based on 17 research reports on rural finance and credit issues, the book comprehensively summarizes and reflects them under six main frameworks according to the chapter structure. Each section is an independent research report, with chapters discussing the same theme. The entire book essentially embodies the research on rural finance and credit issues in the soft science projects of the Ministry of Agriculture since the mid-1990s, reflecting the progress and theoretical development of rural finance and credit research.
