Features: This report is the fifth edition of the annual report series on the research project "Development of Large Enterprises (Groups) in China" organized by the China Enterprise Evaluation Association under the Development Research Center of the State Council. The theme of this report is "Development of Large Enterprises (Groups) in China during the Formation of Economic Circles." With the increasing strength of market forces and further acceleration of opening-up, the trend of accelerated formation of major economic circles in China is very evident: the Yangtze River Delta economic circle centered on Shanghai, the Pearl River Delta economic circle centered on Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and the Bohai Rim economic circle centered on Beijing and Tianjin. These three economic circles are not only the "main production areas" of China's economy but also the regions with the fastest economic growth. The development of large enterprise groups is closely related to the formation of economic circles. Analyzing the intrinsic relationship between the development of China's large enterprise groups and the formation of economic circles, and conducting empirical comparisons of large enterprise groups within and radiating from these economic circles, will be beneficial for studying China's regional economic planning and spatial layout, effectively promoting regional coordination and integration of economic circles, rationally adjusting resource allocation and industrial structures among regions, and further leveraging the locational advantages of the economy for the development of large enterprise groups.
