What is the reason for a headache after an adenoidectomy?

Patient's question:

The child had adenoid and tonsil surgery on the 20th of this month. They are 4 years and 11 months old. On the 25th, the mucosa started to fall off, and they said their throat hurt. They also started to have a headache. Later, they asked the doctor, and the doctor said it might be a cold. What should they do?

Doctor's answer:

If it's a cold, symptoms such as headache, fever, sneezing, and runny nose may occur. However, a cold may also present with symptoms of nasal mucosal congestion, and a blood test may be conducted as blood cells may change. In this case, a blood test should be performed. If there are lymphocytes or white blood cells, oral antiviral medication or anti-inflammatory medication can be taken, and plenty of water should be drunk. However, if the medication is ineffective and the headache symptoms do not improve, a brain CT or brain MRI should be conducted to rule out the possibility of intracranial disease.
