Dictionary of Foreign Music Performance Terms (Second Edition)

Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-05-01
Features: Since its publication in 1984, "Dictionary of Foreign Music Performance Terms" has been well-received by readers. To meet the needs of a broader audience, this book has been revised. The revision includes enhancing some entries and correcting a few terms, as well as adding phonetic annotations. As early as the beginning of the book's compilation, some members of the editorial team proposed the idea of adding phonetic annotations. However, due to time constraints, it was not implemented. After the book's publication, the editorial team received continuous feedback from readers. Therefore, this revision provides the added annotations. During this process, opinions from various parties were taken into account, and the annotations were added based on practical needs. Only French and Spanish entries are annotated, as English entries are not (considering that most Chinese readers have access to English-Chinese dictionaries and have more exposure to English). Additionally, Italian and German pronunciation patterns are relatively fixed, so only pronunciation tables for these two languages have been added, allowing readers to pronounce them according to the tables. For languages with very few entries, phonetic annotations have not been provided.
