Features: The Center for American Studies at Fudan University was established in 1985 and is one of the main institutions in China dedicated to the study of American issues. Professor Xie Xide, the late president of Fudan University and the first director of the Center, made significant contributions to its establishment and development. In 2000, the Center was recognized as a key research base for humanities and social sciences in ordinary universities by the Ministry of Education. Since its inception, the Center has actively fulfilled its functions in research, teaching, exchange, and consultation, gradually forming major research projects such as the U.S. Congress and Sino-U.S. relations, U.S. national security strategy and arms control, the U.S. economy, and U.S. religion and culture. Currently, the Center has established a distinctive feature of combining basic and policy-oriented research, continuously achieving important academic results. The Center's library houses a large collection of books, journals (both Chinese and foreign), and newspapers on American studies. This book is written by international issue experts and scholars from educational and academic institutions, including the Center for American Studies at Fudan University. The full text is divided into four parts: U.S. Government and Politics, Sino-U.S. Relations, "The War on Terror" and U.S. Security, and U.S. Culture and Thought. The authors adopt different research orientations and perspectives to conduct in-depth analyses and discussions on various aspects of American issues. They provide serious interpretations and explanations of contemporary and modern America from angles such as U.S. political elections, congressional and presidential politics, U.S. relations with China and strategic thinking, the theory and practice of the U.S. "War on Terror," and U.S. neoconservative thought, as well as U.S. civil liberties. This book is suitable for researchers and practitioners of American and international issues, as well as a broad readership interested in U.S. and international affairs.
