Features: The China Economic 50 Forum is a completely non-official academic organization whose purpose is to enable scholars to frequently communicate and interact. It regularly or irregularly brings together members to discuss ongoing research topics, inspiring each other with new ideas. Unlike the U.S. President's Council of Economic Advisers, which is a government agency, or organizations like France's "40 Economists" under the Prime Minister's Office or Germany's "Club of Wise Men" at the Academy of Sciences, the China Economic 50 Forum has little "official color." It is more like a private "reunion" of scholars, and to this day, it has no formal organizational structure. Although some of its members hold government positions, and the National Information Center and China Economic Information Network played important organizational roles in its early stages, the forum itself is not a formal institution.
During the publication process of this series, the authors have naturally made some revisions and additions to their papers or speech drafts. To some extent, the collected works here differ from the original presentations at the forum. However, this is also a product of the forum itself, reflecting its role. The forum's purpose is to refine and perfect everyone's perspectives through broader discussions and debates.
Nevertheless, in this series, we can still see the traces of the issues that have been of concern and discussed over the past few years, which also serves as a historical record. We will continue to organize the forum's activities, and as a result, this series will be published continuously. Additionally, it will more timely reflect the topics of the forum and engage in discussions on economic issues in various ways. After all, China's economic reform and development require broader participation, more new ideas, new approaches, and more democratic mechanisms to address the challenges we face and will face, ensuring China's sustainable development.
