Features: China has successfully joined the World Trade Organization (WTO). The purpose of our entry into the WTO is to operate according to its international rules. To this end, it is imperative to establish trade and economic systems and regulations that comply with international practices and China's national conditions as soon as possible. This is also an important step in implementing Comrade Deng Xiaoping's policies on economic reform and opening up. Various resources will be optimized internationally through "bringing in" and "going out," which will benefit the sustainable and stable development of China's economy. This policy of joining the WTO has now gained consensus among the Chinese people. The book "Research on WTO and Local Administrative Management Systems," organized and written by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government Legal Affairs Office, is highly relevant to the needs of local governments at all levels in China in adapting to the requirements of joining the WTO. It provides a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of how local governments at all levels in China can adapt to the demands of the WTO after joining.
Reviewing the entire book, it begins with a general introduction to the WTO legal framework and its impact on the administrative management of member governments, then elaborates on various aspects such as foreign investment, intermediary organizations, price management, standardization, environmental protection, state-owned enterprise management, labor employment, government procurement, and intellectual property rights. The text is logically rigorous, well-documented, and highly practical. The publication of this book is very necessary for local governments at all levels in China to adapt to the process of joining the WTO, and it holds significant guiding and reference value for standardizing government behavior during China's WTO membership.
