Features: With the gradual deepening of the structural adjustment of China's rural economy, animal husbandry has become one of the main industries for increasing farmers' income and accelerating rural economic development. Among these, pig production is rapidly shifting from traditional household sideline activities to large-scale, specialized pig farming. The scale is continuously expanding, and the level of intensive farming is gradually increasing. Pig housing is evolving from open and semi-open to closed systems. Feeding management methods are transitioning from extensive to intensive approaches. The genetic and production performance of pig breeds are rapidly improving. At the same time, pigs' requirements for nutrition, feed, environment, and disease control are becoming increasingly stringent. Therefore, there is a need for a new improvement in people's pig farming concepts, feeding levels, disease prevention and control standards, and management capabilities. However, due to insufficient awareness and lagging technical management among many large-scale pig farming households (farms), production levels in these farms remain low, and economic benefits are not high.
To address the prominent issues in China's pig farming industry, this book incorporates the latest scientific and technological achievements from both domestic and international sources. Adhering to the principles of systematicity, scientific rigor, practicality, and operability, it was compiled by experts in pig farming. The main content is presented in the form of questions and answers, covering topics such as the biological characteristics and habits of pigs, breed selection and hybrid improvement, pig reproduction, feeding and management at different stages, nutrition and feed, pig farm construction and equipment, disease prevention and treatment, and more. It also emphasizes knowledge related to large-scale pig farming, production processes, technical management features, and prevention techniques for severe infectious diseases, as well as the latest knowledge on pig housing and environmental control, to highlight the key points of large-scale pig farming technology.
