It has become a concrete expression of self-cultivation and refinement, earning the reputation of the "Four Elegant Arts" (Guqin, Calligraphy, Painting, and Go). The Zhongxiuzhenchuanshengqinshu, in its full name Zhongxiuzhengyiduiyinjieyaoshenchuanshu, was compiled by Yang Baozheng of the Ming Dynasty. This qin (Guqin score) collects various tunes, corrects musical notations, annotates fingerings, and draws from a wide range of sources. It was first published in the first year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1573), in six volumes, titled Zhengwenduiyinjieyaoshenchuanshu. In the thirteenth year of the Wanli era (1585), the book was revised and expanded to ten volumes, renamed Zhongxiuzhengwenduiyinjieyaoshenchuanshu daquan, and published by Fuchentang in Sanshan Street, Jinling.
