Can children born with congenital cerebral palsy be cured?

Patient's question:

When the baby was just born, he rarely cried, didn't smile no matter how you tried to entertain him, had a vacant stare, and at three months old, he still couldn't follow objects with his eyes. He didn't have much strength when feeding, preferred to tilt his head backward, and was developing slowly. After checking at the hospital, the doctor said it was cerebral palsy. Can congenital cerebral palsy be cured?

Doctor's answer:

The manifestations of cerebral palsy can be classified into various types. The main characteristic of athetoid cerebral palsy is stiffness in the limbs. Involuntary movements of the limbs and hands occur, especially when purposeful movements are initiated, leading to increased involuntary movements throughout the body, such as frowning, grimacing, difficulty speaking and swallowing, often accompanied by drooling. Congenital cerebral palsy cannot be cured, but motor function can be improved and self-care abilities can be enhanced by increasing joint mobility, adjusting muscle tone, improving motor control, coordination, strength, and endurance. Common techniques include: postural therapy, soft tissue stretching, muscle tone adjustment techniques, and functional active activity reinforcement training.
