Features: This book reports the discoveries and research findings of the Huanglong Cave Yunnan Human Site in Yunxi County, Hubei Province, from 2004 to 2005. The site has yielded fossils of late Homo sapiens, cultural artifacts, and activity traces, along with a rich assemblage of associated animal fossils. The dating results of the site indicate an age of approximately 100,000 years ago, making it a human settlement site during a key period of the origin of modern humans in East Asia. The research on the Yunnan Human Site demonstrates that China and East Asia had earlier stages of late Homo sapiens (Early Upper Paleolithic), and the culture created by these late Homo sapiens shows a clear lineage relationship with ancient Chinese culture. Additionally, they reflect cultural exchange during the early dispersal stage of modern humans in China (both southern and northern regions). The animal assemblage of the Yunnan Human Site is one of the important sites of the Upper Paleolithic in China and is crucial for studying the environmental background of the early dispersal stage of modern humans in China.
