In the 1960s, fueled by the wave of modernization, a group of legal scholars from developed countries, along with some lawyers, political scientists, and sociologists, were committed to exporting the legal values and systems of Western societies to developing countries. This large-scale social experiment, known as the "law and development movement," took place in the mid-to-late 1960s. However, the ambitious movement did not achieve the expected results. By the mid-1970s, amid a chorus of critical self-reflection, the movement was effectively disbanded and came to an end.
