Features: This book categorizes idioms into two types: common idioms and variant idioms within a group of homologous or near-synonymous idioms, with the most frequently used being classified as common idioms. The book includes 1045 commonly used common-variant idiom groups. Each group lists the common idiom first. Variant idioms do not have separate reference entries to save space. In each group, the common idiom is listed first, marked with "[]". Variant idioms are arranged in descending order of usage frequency. The entire book is arranged in alphabetical order by the first character of the common idiom, and if the first characters are the same, it is further ordered by the second character. The register is divided into written and spoken styles. If the written style is very strong, the description is "often used"; if the written style is moderately strong, the description is "tends to"; if there is no clear register characteristic, no description is provided. [Examples] Generally, only examples of common idioms are included, but sometimes examples of variant idioms are also included. Most examples are selected from the works of contemporary and modern writers and are marked with their source. However, examples of some idioms may be self-composed by the author and are not marked with a source.
