Features: Find Friends / Preparation
Prepare: Use a large handkerchief to cover a talking toy puppy, and have several plush animal toys (more than the number of babies) hidden around the activity area. A bell and a screen are also needed.
1. The parent guides the baby to sit in a semicircle facing the teacher. The toy puppy covered with a large handkerchief is placed behind the teacher.
2. The teacher introduces the game rules.
“Baby, the puppy is visiting us today! Where is it?” The teacher quietly reaches out and turns on the sound switch under the handkerchief covering the toy puppy. “Huh? The puppy is barking! Baby, quickly listen, where is it barking?” The teacher pretends to listen and search exaggeratedly. Based on the sound, the teacher first finds the toy puppy under the handkerchief, removes the handkerchief covering it, and lets the baby see the “puppy.” The teacher hugs the “puppy” with an exaggerated expression of surprise and joy: “Puppy, I finally found you! Wow, so happy!”
The teacher says, “Baby, today the puppy also brought many friends, and they are all hiding. Let’s go find them together!” Encourage the parent to guide the baby to actively search for the small animals and bring them back to the teacher.
3. Guide the baby to play the “peek-a-boo” game.
The teacher says, “The puppy’s friends also want to play peek-a-boo with the baby. Baby, hide, and let the puppy find you, okay?” The parent leads the baby to find a place to hide around the activity room. The teacher holds the toy puppy and says in an exaggerated voice, “Baby, where are you?”—then finds the baby one by one: “Wow, I found you! Come give me a hug.”
4. The teacher hides behind the screen and rings the bell in their hand.
The assistant teacher says, “Huh? Our teacher is gone. Baby, what sound is ringing? Quickly go find it.” The parent guides the baby to follow the sound of the bell and find the teacher. The teacher hugs each baby one by one and praises them.
