Charles Dickens (1812–1870) was one of the greatest novelists in British history. Great Expectations is one of Dickens' later works and also one of his most mature. In this novel, Dickens incorporates his own life philosophy and reflections on philosophy and morality. His language is simple and clear, straightforward and easy to understand, making the entire work feel plain and unadorned, as smooth as flowing clouds.
