Features: In 1699, surgeon Gulliver embarked on a voyage to the South Pacific but unfortunately encountered a disaster midway. Gulliver miraculously survived and drifted ashore. When he came to, he was surprised to find himself tied up with fine ropes and surrounded by "Lilliputians" who were twelve times smaller than him. It turned out that he had arrived in Lilliput. Later, he also encountered "Giants" towering twenty meters tall, "Magicians" who could summon ghosts, and ugly, selfish "Yahoos." He also met the intelligent and noble "Houyhnhnms." Through Gulliver's perspective, the book narrates his extraordinary experiences traveling through various countries. Gulliver's Travels was published around 1726 and is the masterpiece of Jonathan Swift (1667—1745), an outstanding satirical writer of 18th-century England. He allows readers to observe the world with a fresh perspective, placing themselves in the protagonist's position to reflect on themselves, mock their own foolish or unpleasant habits, and thereby change them. Gulliver's Travels has always been a favorite among children, but it is a mistake to view it merely as a children's novel. The author demands that his readers seriously contemplate the world they inhabit.
