Features: When Marconi was studying at the University of Bologna in Italy, he came across several articles in magazines about the experiments of German physicist Heinrich Hertz. He felt that the discovery of electromagnetic waves had opened a window for electricity. In June 1896, he demonstrated the experiment in the UK and obtained a patent. In 1898, Marconi first transmitted wireless signals, and the following year, wireless signals successfully crossed the English Channel.
In December 1901, he also successfully made wireless signals cross the Atlantic, covering a distance of 3,200 kilometers, causing a sensation in the world and being hailed as "the conquest of the earth by radio waves." Marconi from Italy was thus, together with the Russian physicist Popov, recognized as the "father of radio."
