Wealth from foreign trade in the UK

Author: (English) Thomas Mun
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2006-09-01
Features: This book is one of the translations in the series "Bible of Western Economics," a monograph on economic theory of British foreign trade. It provides a detailed introduction to the process by which Britain accumulated wealth through foreign trade, making it a valuable reference for researchers and students in the field of foreign trade. The book is based on a reproduction of the 1765 edition of "England's Wealth from Trade," a copy provided by Harvard University. After the Harvard Old Library burned down, Father John Bernard of Mather gave funds for Harvard to reproduce the 1765 edition of "England's Wealth from Trade." Interestingly, in Father John's autobiography (see Volume III of the "Massachusetts Historical Society Proceedings" in 1836), we find that he completely agreed with the basic views of Thomas Mun. He was very proud of his role in promoting the development of Mather's commercial enterprises, recalling: "In 1714, when I came here to do business, pork and beef were sent from Boston, which caused a large amount of wealth to flow out of the town."
