Features: The purpose of nursing program in higher vocational and technical colleges is to cultivate advanced practical nursing talents. However, traditional nursing education has often divided internal and surgical nursing into two separate courses with distinct textbooks, which is somewhat disconnected from the talent development model, teaching hours, and professional competency requirements of higher vocational and technical colleges. This book adheres to the principle of higher vocational and technical college teaching content, where "basic theory should be sufficient and essential, with emphasis on application." In terms of content selection and arrangement, it fully considers the teaching requirements of related programs in higher vocational and technical colleges and the actual needs of employment. By integrating the content of internal and surgical nursing, it avoids much repetition, achieves a clear focus and logical structure, and enables students to systematically, comprehensively, and holistically understand various systemic diseases while applying the nursing process to provide holistic care for patients.
The book is divided into two parts. Part 1 is the General Theory, which introduces commonalities of systemic diseases from the perspective of holistic nursing, including nine chapters such as nursing for patients with water and electrolyte disorders and acid-base imbalance, nursing for patients with surgical shock, perioperative nursing, nursing for cancer patients, nutritional support and nursing for pain patients, etc. The second part is the Specific Theory, which focuses on nursing for systemic diseases, covering nine chapters including respiratory, circulatory, digestive, hematologic, urinary, endocrine and metabolic, musculoskeletal, and nervous systems. In this part, the content is centered on common and frequently occurring diseases, following a logical structure of nursing assessment (including symptoms and signs, and auxiliary examinations), psychosocial assessment (excluding individualized nursing history), treatment principles, nursing diagnoses, nursing plans, and health guidance. The focus is on nursing diagnoses and nursing plans, with nursing diagnoses including collaborative problems (i.e., "potential complications"). Additionally, it briefly introduces the etiology and pathogenesis of systemic diseases.
