Features: This book reflects the thinking of the younger generation in the era of globalization and predicts the direction of urban planning and architectural art in the 21st century. "Emergence" is a technical concept referring to the idea that any complex natural or social phenomenon can be deciphered by identifying the rules followed by each individual, and these rules are often simple. "Architectural Generation" refers to generating architecture using computer theory. Today, young international architects primarily study how to apply such new technologies as "emergence" and "architectural generation" to actual architectural design, thereby exploring a new path for architectural development in the information society. This is an exhibition of emerging talent and new technologies. In other words, it is an exhibition showcasing talented but relatively unknown architectural practices. The works exhibited are cutting-edge creations from around the world designed using new technologies. We invited eight curators from eight regions around the world to select six practices from their respective regions to participate. These practices do not necessarily have to be traditional architectural firms; they can be research institutions or other forms of architectural-related practices. However, their common feature is an advanced architectural perspective and the creative application of new technologies. When inviting the eight curators to select emerging practices, we aimed to showcase a new talent and present it to a broader audience. Essentially, most new things are largely unknown, even if they are right in front of us. Therefore, those closely connected with local design culture are entrusted with the important task of discovering new talent, which is of great significance. The curators' working methods The eight curators employed slightly different methods in their selections. Elisa Andrasek selected a group of very young and highly experimental architects from the East Coast of the United States. Some of them had never built any buildings before, but they were at the forefront of digital technology, using new software programs and manufacturing technologies for their design work. The application of CNC milling and rapid prototyping technology demonstrates how new technologies are contributing significantly to the advancement of architectural manufacturing. Similarly, the application of new parametric modeling software shows how digital technology can be used to facilitate the modification of architectural drawings. Changing one line in a drawing allows all combinations of lines to be redefined. Of course, as is evident from many of the exhibited proposals, digital technology is also very successfully used as a tool for generating design through the application of cellular automata and other generative processes. Similarly, one can also see from the intricate works designed by Elisa Andrasek, Andrew Kudrytskyy, and Michael Silver that an excessive emphasis on digital technology has not hindered their creativity. Instead, what emerges is a new tradition of highly poeticized architectural production. Elena Manfredini selected works from the West Coast of the United States on the theme of "wearable architecture," echoing Adolf Loos's earlier comparison of architecture and clothing. Her own work also draws heavily on fashion design experience. As an artist residing at the MAK Center in Los Angeles, she has researched laser-cutting techniques for fabrics to create fashion. This work has expanded to include designing sneakers for Nike, home goods for Alessi, and interior design solutions for many clients, all relying on new laser-based material cutting techniques. Elena also designed a pavilion for the exhibition using CNC milling, leveraging her experience in digital manufacturing processes. Architects and design groups such as Paul Anderson, Xefirotarch, Gnuform, "Emergence," and "Pattern" have all contributed to this highly digitalized building.
