Features: The National Professional and Technical Personnel English Proficiency Examination is a national foreign language test organized and implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. According to the "National Professional and Technical Personnel English Proficiency Examination Syllabus" approved and published by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the examination is divided into three professional categories: General, Science and Technology, and Medical. Each category is further divided into three levels: A, B, and C. The examination for each category and level consists of six types of questions. To help candidates taking the National Professional and Technical Personnel English Proficiency Examination better understand the exam content and basic requirements, and to guide them to achieve breakthroughs through study and training, successfully passing the exam, we have strictly adhered to the requirements of the "National Professional and Technical Personnel English Proficiency Examination Syllabus." Based on a thorough study of the patterns of the recent professional and technical English proficiency examinations, we have compiled this 2010 new edition of "Professional and Technical English (Exam Tips and Full-Scale Simulation Test Explanations)" as a supplementary textbook. In the compilation process, we followed the following five principles:
1. The principle of combining detailed guidance with full-scale simulation tests. The first half of each supplementary textbook provides a general description of the exam requirements and an introduction and detailed guidance for each question type. In these introductions, we particularly explain the question-setting logic and characteristics of each type, helping candidates understand the intrinsic relationship between question types and English proficiency. The second half of each textbook consists of simulation tests and their detailed answers. The writing style and difficulty level of the simulation tests are consistent with the actual exam requirements.
2. The principle of theoretical guidance. When compiling the "exam tips" section, we conducted in-depth analyses of common linguistic phenomena and general difficulties encountered by Chinese learners of English from the perspectives of linguistics and language education theory. This enables candidates not only to understand how to answer questions but also to understand why certain answers are correct.
3. The principle of high-quality material selection. When selecting materials, we paid special attention to both breadth of content and natural language expression. Therefore, all textual materials cover a wide range of topics, are concise and fluent, and rich in knowledge. In the design of simulation tests, we also ensured that the questions strictly align with the new syllabus requirements and were carefully selected according to the new syllabus.
4. The principle of detailed explanations. We have provided detailed answers for all questions in the simulation tests, explaining the reasoning behind each answer choice, while also introducing necessary vocabulary, grammar, discourse cohesion, cultural background, and other relevant knowledge. This allows candidates to enrich their comprehensive English knowledge and achieve the effect of learning by example after reading the explanations.
5. The principle of full translation. In the detailed answers, we have provided reference translations for all content in the simulation tests, and all translations have been thoroughly checked multiple times to ensure accuracy. These high-quality translations play a positive role in helping candidates deeply and correctly understand the original text.
