Features: The December 9th Movement holds such great significance in Chinese history because at a critical moment of national crisis, it raised the banner of anti-Japanese resistance. This banner, originating in Beijing, quickly spread across the country, embedding the idea of resistance in the hearts of the people and uniting them into a massive force, forming a nationwide anti-Japanese movement. It nurtured an entire generation of revolutionary youth, not only preparing them as cadres for the Anti-Japanese War but also shaping them into pillars of Chinese revolution and construction. Who I am doesn’t matter; what I’ve done doesn’t matter. My experiences, my positions, my treatment—all none of it matters. We are constantly faced with choices. First, we choose a way of life. Dust? Vermin? Cockroaches? The likes of scoundrels? No! Glory? Greatness? Also not! Man is man—great, glorious, sacred—especially the Communist Party member. This is an eternal viewpoint, starting point, and foothold.
