Features: This book introduces the concept of discourse into reading methods. Traditional reading techniques generally focus only on sentences or paragraphs, making the entire reading process isolated and passive. After incorporating the concept of discourse, the reading process becomes coherent and active. By analyzing reading comprehension questions from CET-4 exams, we discovered the patterns between discourse structures and questions. Therefore, understanding discourse patterns not only helps grasp the article's structure in a short time but also aids in solving problems. When tackling reading questions, it is obviously difficult to first thoroughly understand the entire article before answering, as time is limited in the exam. Another reason for slow problem-solving speed is a lack of sensitivity to question points. The second concept proposed in this book is the keyword positioning problem-solving method. This refers to locating the source of the question in the original text using keywords from the question stem or options, then analyzing the key points to derive the answer. Discourse reading is about predicting key points based on discourse patterns during reading. Keyword positioning is about finding key points through questions. Combining these two methods ensures precise understanding of the text and rapid problem-solving—this is the essence of bidirectional accelerated reading.
