Features: Higher Mathematics is a core foundational course in higher education institutions, one of the key assessment courses in teaching, and also a national unified examination subject for postgraduate entrance exams. To meet the current needs of higher education development and help readers master the basic concepts, theories, and methods of higher mathematics, we have written this book based on years of experience in undergraduate teaching and mathematical research. Higher Mathematics Companion is compiled according to the Basic Requirements for Higher Mathematics Curriculum Teaching (teaching syllabus) approved by the State Education Commission, and follows the chapter order of Higher Mathematics (Fifth Edition) by the Department of Applied Mathematics, Tongji University, as part of the National "Five-Year Plan" for General Higher Education Textbooks. Each chapter consists of the following sections:
1. Teaching Requirements: Detailed description of the knowledge points required by the syllabus for this chapter.
2. Content Summary: Overview of the key points of the chapter, concise explanation of knowledge points, and interpretation of key concepts.
3. Selected Examples: Analysis and solutions of typical examples, with annotations summarizing problem-solving methods for various types of questions and key points to note, strengthening conceptual and skill-based training, broadening problem-solving perspectives, and improving problem-solving abilities.
4. Synchronous Exercises: Readers solve problems independently to deepen their understanding, consolidate knowledge, and enhance proficiency. The included short-answer questions serve as guidance and self-check tools. At the end of each chapter, there are also Ability Tests A and B and their answers, allowing readers to self-assess their mastery of the chapter's knowledge. Problems marked with an asterisk are more challenging.
At the end of the book, there are mock exams for both Higher Mathematics (Volumes 1 and 2) and the entrance exam questions for national postgraduate candidates from 2003 to 2005.
Higher Mathematics Companion is a supplementary book for learning higher mathematics, with content organized in the same order as Higher Mathematics (Fifth Edition) by the Department of Applied Mathematics, Tongji University. Each chapter is divided into five parts: (1) Teaching Requirements; (2) Content Summary; (3) Selected Examples; (4) Synchronous Exercises; (5) Ability Tests.
At the end of the book, there are also mock exams for Higher Mathematics (Volumes 1 and 2) and the entrance exam questions for national postgraduate candidates from 2003 to 2005.
This book can serve as a reference for readers studying higher mathematics, a review material for those preparing for postgraduate entrance exams, and a supplementary guide for self-study exam candidates.
