Features: Thus, we attempted to select dozens of works from the vast collection of prose from ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad, that meet the new curriculum standards and are suitable for student reading. Guided by the principles of promoting personalized reading and diversified appreciation, we analyzed and appreciated them from different perspectives. Then, we compiled them into this book following the format of one exemplary text and two appreciation articles, naming it "Literary Appreciation under the New Curriculum Standards." The selected literary masterpieces have been carefully chosen to avoid those that have appeared in previous teaching materials and supplementary resources (though due to limited access, some overlaps may still exist, for which we apologize). We have also consciously avoided the frequently included familiar faces in various anthologies compiled for teachers and students. At the same time, we strive to avoid blind reverence for the ancients and celebrities, ensuring a balance between modern and classical works, as well as between Chinese and translated works. Even, a small number of outstanding contemporary articles have been included. Here, we sincerely thank the contemporary masters who personally provided articles for the readers—renowned writer Wang Xufeng, famous Ming historian Wang Chunyu, famous satirist Chen Siyi, and others. Many famous writers at home and abroad, such as Yu Guangzhong, Dong Qiao, Feng Jicai, Zhou Guoping, Bi Shumin, and others, generously agreed to allow us to use their works, offering strong support. Additionally, the family of the late famous satirist Mu Hui provided us with support and assistance. The essayist Wang Yifang, the young critic Xia Lie, and the book’s editor-in-chief Ye Shu, with their rich editorial experience, offered us valuable guidance. Here, please allow us to extend our deepest gratitude to all of them!
