Features: The implementation of nine-year compulsory education and the weekend system in China has provided children with time and space to develop actively. How can we better support math learning and development for children with exceptional abilities? This is a hot topic of concern for parents, teachers, and society. In 1994, when I met with Professor Oharen, the president of the World Association of National Mathematical Competitions in Bulgaria, we shared a common view: stimulating interest in math learning, guiding learning methods, and cultivating thinking skills are key aspects of math education. Based on this, the primary school math supplementary reading materials I edited always reflect the views that "interest is the source of motivation for good learning" and "thinking is the core of intelligence and ability."
Exercises and Solutions is a problem-solving reference book designed for math tutoring teachers and primary school students. It includes self-test questions for students to improve their problem-solving skills, enabling self-learning, self-assessment, and self-evaluation. It is hoped that the publication of this reference book will encourage math educators to further explore and research topics such as how to select and create questions suitable for students' levels, how to guide students in choosing appropriate problem-solving strategies, and how to organically integrate knowledge learning with problem-solving.
