Features: Zhao Yunsheng, a native of Lishu County, Jilin Province, graduated from the Chinese Department of Jilin University in 1965 and was assigned to Beijing the same year. He is currently a first-class playwright at the National Theater of China. In addition to stage playwriting, he has also worked in television drama, radio drama, fiction, reportage, and literary criticism. Among his works, the television drama Legend of the Young Marshal won the First Prize for National Television Drama Creation in 1984; the long-form biographical novel Zhao Si Group and the Good General won the National Best-Selling Book Award in 1987; the long-form literary biography Emperor of Chinese Drama—Jin Shan won the Jiangnan Second Literature Award in 1988; the television drama Special Unit won the Excellent Drama Award from China Central Television in 1991; and the large-scale book series Lives of Military Leaders' Wives, edited and published by him, won the Changbai Mountain Excellent Book Award in 1995. Additionally, he edited and published the large book Lives of China's Major Capitalists, which was published both on the mainland and overseas. His recently completed 30-episode television drama Golden Vortex and the 30-episode television drama Chaos and Love in Turbulent Times are also set to enter production. He is a member of the China Drama Association and the China Writers' Association, and holds the government special allowance awarded by the State Council.
