Features: Watercolor painting entered the classrooms of higher art institutions in the 1940s, initially primarily as a color foundation course for applied arts majors. Today, with the flourishing development of art education, all art academies and architecture schools have incorporated watercolor painting as a color foundation training course, typically offering watercolor still-life drawing and landscape painting classes. Watercolor still-life drawing is conducted indoors, where the light and color are relatively stable, allowing students to calmly grasp the various relationships of the subject through careful observation, analysis, and thinking, with ample time to create the artwork. In contrast, landscape painting is done outdoors, where, whether facing nature or cultural landscapes, the colors change with the rise and fall of the sun and the variations in seasons and weather. Landscape painting has a sense of urgency, requiring artists to quickly capture the rich and ever-changing colors of nature, thus cultivating students' keen sense of color.
