Features: Now is the time to learn Servlet and JSP in the latest version (J2EE 1.4), and this book will accelerate your learning. You will master Servlet and JSP and smoothly pass the Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) 14 exam. Perhaps you don’t care about the exam, but you’ll use Servlet and JSP in your next project. You’re working hard to complete the project on time, which has led to excessive caffeine intake, so you can no longer waste time on a book that only experts can understand and makes you sleepy. No problem. Head First Servlet & JSP will never make you sleepy; it will pour knowledge directly into your brain. You’ll interact with Servlet and JSP in unusual ways, learn deeper and faster, and most importantly, you’ll be able to truly apply what you’ve learned. You can see why reviewers say this book makes them “put down and pick up again.” We won’t make you sleepy just to pass the exam, nor will you forget everything you’ve learned the next day. You’ll learn how to write Servlet and JSP, which aspects of the container are highly regarded, and which aspects make it a favorite or a target for criticism. You’ll understand how to use JSP expression language, what not to write in JSP, how to create a deployment descriptor, how to write secure applications, and how to use some server-side design patterns. You won’t just pass the exam—you’ll truly master these skills and apply them effectively.
