Features: China is a vast Eastern country with a vast territory, boasting magnificent and dazzling natural landscapes. It is also an ancient civilization with rich and diverse cultural landscapes, full of charm. There are countless famous mountains and waters in China. Due to space constraints, we have selected over 160 scenic spots and golden tourism routes from 34 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and special administrative regions. It includes famous mountains and waters listed in the World Heritage List and national key scenic areas, as well as other renowned scenic treasures. Each entry provides a brief introduction. Based on different situations, each scenic spot (point) is illustrated with landscape maps, tourism route maps, and scenic photographs. The literary descriptions mainly introduce the characteristics and appreciation value of each scenic area (point), enhancing the knowledge and interest of tourists. Meteorological data of scenic areas are also essential references for tourism. Many scenic maps in this atlas are drawn using the landscape method. Landscape maps are an ancient cartographic technique. In the Ma Wangdui silk map unearthed from a Han Dynasty tomb (168 BC), the landscape method was already used to depict mountain shapes. For several centuries after the 15th century, European countries widely used the landscape method to draw maps. This method is still widely used in modern and contemporary tourism maps. The reason lies in the stereoscopic, intuitive, and easy-to-understand features of landscape maps, which are well-accepted by readers. The authors of the landscape maps in this atlas have inherited traditional techniques while incorporating elements of Chinese painting, making them more distinctive in Chinese style and enhancing the appreciation value of the atlas.
