Features: The value lies in contribution. I am willing to be an ordinary screw. I am a brick, ready to be moved wherever needed. Many people feel that this life philosophy and value system are already very outdated. It's ridiculous to still be willing to be a screw—why not be a robot? That would be so fashionable and valuable! Who still makes screws these days?
In recent years, with the development of the market economy, people's evaluation of life value has undergone significant changes. A trend where position determines value and money determines value is surging, to the point where some people in ordinary jobs, such as cleaners and industrial workers, feel inferior in front of others. While there is a connection between life value and position, this connection is neither absolute nor the only one. If someone becomes a king or an earl, they should have both position and value, right? But let's not forget Beethoven's scathing words to the earl: "Your earldom is only because of your." Earls can be inherited, passed down through generations. They have existed in the past, exist now, and will continue to exist in the future. Beethoven, however, is one of a kind!
Mr. Guo Moruo's inscription at the famous Tomb of Zhang Heng also illustrates this point: "For ten thousand years and a thousand ages, people will admire and respect him!" My teacher once told us that in China, the highest official is the emperor, as the saying goes, "Within the four seas, nothing is not the emperor's land; along all the coasts, nothing is not the emperor's subject." Yet, through generations, emperors have passed away one after another, and how many can the common people remember? However, a scientist who benefits the people will still be admired and commemorated for millennia. Those cleaning workers and sanitation workers may be ordinary, and even in the eyes of some, they are lowly and despised, unappreciated. But not long ago, Zhuzhou City decided to give its sanitation workers a two-day holiday to raise public awareness of sanitation and remind citizens of the importance of sanitation workers. Yet even for just one day, when sanitation workers stopped their labor, shocking scenes unfolded: the main streets and train stations of Zhuzhou were in disarray. Staring into the distance, the streets, stretching for several kilometers, were lined with "long dragons" of garbage. Trash bins were overflowing, and scraps of fruit and paper littered the streets, turning the city into a mess. Household waste was scattered across streets, alleys, and residential areas, forcing passersby to cover their noses in disgust. The citizens suffered greatly, finally realizing the importance of sanitation workers.
There was once a survey asking, "Who is your hero?" Many people, including some Hong Kong and Taiwan celebrities, as well as some Westerners, answered: Lei Feng! Why? Because the ordinary Lei Feng achieved extraordinary things in an ordinary position, realizing his life value.
I once visited the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Jinggang Mountain to pay respects to the martyrs. Facing the stone wall inscribed with the names of 15,000 martyrs, I was deeply moved. What shook me even more was that there were over 30,000 martyrs whose names were never recorded. We could only pay our respects before an empty monument for the nameless martyrs. But it was these nameless martyrs who ignited the flames of revolution; it was these nameless martyrs who, with their bodies, built the path to...
