Is it necessary for premature babies to have an echocardiogram?

Patient's question:

My baby was born via normal delivery at 37 weeks. After birth, the doctor did not suction the baby's mucus. Now, whenever she drinks water, she vomits white, thick substance. What could be the reason? (Birth date: 2015.10.22) The help I need: Is the substance vomited by my baby amniotic fluid?

Doctor's answer:

Does a premature baby need an echocardiogram? Different individuals should be treated differently. The main purpose of an echocardiogram for newborns is to further clarify whether congenital heart disease exists. There is no necessary link between premature babies and congenital heart disease. If a pathological murmur is detected in the heart area during a heart auscultation examination, an echocardiogram should be performed to further confirm the diagnosis.
