Features: "Analytical Chemistry," 5th Edition, is one of the fifth-round planned teaching materials for pharmacy majors in higher education institutions across the country. This textbook was organized and commissioned by the Third National Pharmacy Professional Textbook Evaluation Committee, with the editor-in-chief and the evaluation committee selecting editorial board members from recommended candidates from various schools to compile it. All editorial board members are experienced core teaching staff and discipline leaders working in analytical chemistry education. The book was collectively discussed, with tasks assigned and completed under the responsibility of the editor-in-chief. This textbook serves as a fundamental teaching material for pharmacy majors in higher education institutions nationwide and can also be used by professionals in pharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine, chemistry, and other related fields. It is also suitable for researchers and technical personnel in relevant research institutions or drug quality inspection departments. The revised "Analytical Chemistry" no longer has upper and lower volumes, with a total of 22 chapters, each accompanied by a "Chapter Summary." Common issues in titration analysis, spectroscopic analysis, and chromatographic analysis are respectively consolidated in their respective "Introduction" sections, reducing the repetition of similar content across chapters. The Introduction to Titration Analysis introduces the general concepts of titration analysis, giving students a comprehensive understanding of the subject, followed by progressively deeper insights in subsequent chapters. The distribution of various forms in acid (base) solutions and the distribution of complex forms are also combined into this chapter. Common components of spectroscopic instruments are discussed in the Introduction to Spectroscopic Analysis. The Introduction to Chromatographic Analysis covers chromatographic processes, fundamental concepts, and theories of chromatography, while subsequent chapters focus on the specific issues of various chromatographic methods. The calculation part of ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry is slightly reduced, with emphasis on several representative methods. Precipitation titration and gravimetric analysis are combined into one chapter, and liquid-liquid extraction is removed from gravimetric analysis. Main references are uniformly listed at the end of the book, categorized into general analytical chemistry, spectroscopic analysis, chromatographic analysis, handbooks, and relevant journals and websites related to analytical chemistry, enabling students to stay updated on the latest developments in the field. Given the rapid advancement of analytical chemistry, this textbook maintains the core content of previous editions while appropriately incorporating newly developed and relatively mature methods and technologies to ensure its modernity and enable students to grasp the latest progress in analytical chemistry. New content includes Chapter 22 on Chromatographic Hyphenation Techniques, focusing on widely used chromatography-mass spectrometry hyphenation techniques in the pharmaceutical field. Capillary electrophoresis is also separated from high-performance liquid chromatography and listed as a standalone chapter. Chapter 9 now includes electrochemical biosensors and microelectrode technology. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy briefly introduces related spectra. Mass spectrometry adds tandem mass spectrometry and also includes comprehensive analysis content in this chapter.
