Features: The prosperity of ceramics leads to the prosperity of cities, and the ceramic industry has become a shining emblem of Chaozhou's cultural industry. Building upon tradition, Chaozhou ceramics are now showcasing new brilliance through new materials, technologies, designs, and craftsmanship. The Chaozhou Ceramic Design Art Exhibition, organized by the National Art Museum of China, highlights the strengths of Chaozhou ceramics in design, holding significant cultural importance for inheriting, promoting, and developing ceramic art. Here, I sincerely wish for the continued brilliance of Chaozhou's ceramic art.
Emphasis on technological innovation has enabled Chaozhou ceramics to reach new heights, evolving from ordinary ceramics to high-tech bone china, white jade porcelain, reinforced porcelain, lightweight porcelain, colored glaze porcelain, ivory porcelain, and heat-resistant porcelain, among others. Specialized products such as lacquer carving and gold inlay, as well as antibacterial ceramic products with embedded designs, have also been developed. The level of ceramic design continues to improve, with Chaozhou winning most of the awards in recent editions of the China Ceramic Product Design Competition.
Today, talents from major ceramic production areas across the country gather in Chaozhou, where excellent ceramic arts from different regions blend together. This has allowed contemporary Chaozhou ceramics to retain their original regional characteristics— "white as jade, fine as silk, resonant as bells, thin as paper"—while also pioneering broader paths in combining artistic and practical applications by integrating the best ceramic design and craftsmanship from across China.
