It is recommended by Li Yining, Shih Chen-jung, and Gao Xi-jun, and is a must-read for anyone aspiring to excel in their career. Pan Shenchang, a seasoned career veteran who rose from intern to ING Director, shares his insights into human nature and his experiences in workplace interactions. As a supervisor, Pan Shenchang says, "Be loyal to your employees," "Delegation must be calculated," "Always assign work to the busiest person," earning both respect and admiration from his subordinates. As an employee, he says, "Managing your boss is more important than managing your subordinates," "Employee turnover is always the boss's fault," and "You must double your losses," making his bosses love him but also fear him. For young professionals just starting out, Pan Shenchang advises, "Treat your work as your own career," "MBA can only teach you to be second," and "When a customer says no, it's actually an opportunity." For seasoned veterans in the workplace, Pan Shenchang suggests, "Don't do the same things as yesterday," "Make a difference," and "Learn to be ignorant." Mr. Pan says, "My loyalty to my employees should be greater than their loyalty to me." This statement resonates deeply with me. If you think about it calmly, the success of a company is the success of leaders and all employees working together. Over the past decade and a half of development at Small Nurse Company, some employees have made serious mistakes, but I have given them another chance instead of simply giving up—even some middle and senior management personnel who caused the company millions or tens of millions in losses. To this day, I have not fired them, and they have played a pivotal role in the company by learning from their failures and paying their dues.
