Features: Cloze tests and reading comprehension are often referred to as comprehensive ability tests, which are objective assessment methods that comprehensively examine the application of various language phenomena. The so-called comprehensive ability refers to the ability to apply language knowledge such as vocabulary, idioms, and grammar. Among these two tests, reading comprehension appeared earlier. Compared to cloze tests, reading comprehension seems slightly easier. Fundamentally, cloze tests are also designed to assess reading ability. Therefore, in terms of answer techniques, reading comprehension and cloze tests share many similarities. Compared to reading comprehension, cloze tests seem slightly more difficult and are often the harder part to score in. The reason is that they examine more detailed and comprehensive language points, involving vocabulary usage, grammar knowledge, reading ability, logical thinking skills, and the knowledge breadth of students. Cloze tests can mainly be divided into two categories: language knowledge and text structure. Among these, understanding the logical relationships between contexts is particularly important. When solving specific problems, it is generally divided into four steps: 1. Read the entire passage thoroughly; 2. Filter through the options while reading and filling in the blanks, marking uncertain answers for later consideration; 3. Analyze specific questions individually after further understanding, and fill in the remaining blanks; 4. Read the passage again and make localized adjustments.
