Features: To commemorate the 20th anniversary of China's accession to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Center for Women's Legal Studies, School of Law, Peking University, in collaboration with the British Council, has launched a new book titled "The Theory and Practice of Protecting Women's Rights in Contemporary China." This book, based on the changes and developments in the practical rights of Chinese women in various aspects such as politics, economy, family, and health, reflects the progress, achievements, existing problems, and causes in the legislative, enforcement, and compliance aspects of women's rights protection in China. The book introduces the implementation of the CEDAW in China and, to some extent, explores countermeasures and specific measures for China to achieve the objectives of the CEDAW in the future.
The book "Investigation and Research on the Implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women in Contemporary China" collects the recent research findings of the center's members. To obtain accurate materials, the center dispatched three researchers to Beijing, Guangdong, Fujian, Shanghai, Jiangxi, Hubei, Shanxi, and other regions for a month-long investigation from March to April 2000, yielding rich results and a substantial amount of first-hand data, which formed the basis for this book.
