Features: In the world of painting, Chinese figure painting is an independent system with a long history and unique value. It has experienced the brilliance of meticulous brushwork during the Sui and Tang dynasties, the peak of ink wash and freehand brushwork during the Northern and Southern Song dynasties, and the decline in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Over the long course of history, it has gradually formed its own conventions. The 10 painters featured in this issue of "Times Chinese Painting · Figure Special" are selected elites from all over the country. Their common characteristic is dedicating more time and effort to developing their artistic individuality, demonstrating their innovative creative spirit. Where is the future of Chinese figure painting creation? This is a severe challenge faced by every responsible figure painter. We should have our own "concept of form," we must study the differences between Eastern and Western "form," promote the positive and vibrant aspects of it, scientifically absorb the strengths of other painting styles, enrich and develop the system of form in Chinese figure painting, making it align with the aesthetic psychology of modern figures and meet the creative needs of modern figure painting. This is the foundation of contemporary Chinese figure painting creation.
