Features: The silk and velvet appliqué craft has a long history. Over a thousand years ago, during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period, there was an early form of this craft in the Jingchu region of China. There was a local custom where, during festivals and celebrations, colorful silk was cut and pasted into floral and bird shapes, which were then attached to screens or worn on heads. This custom flourished during the Tang Dynasty, evolving into a unique handicraft known as "appliqué silk" and " velvet piling." Appliqué silk involved cutting single-layer silk fabrics into patterns and pasting them flat, while velvet piling involved cutting and stacking silk, velvet, or other silk fabrics to create multi-layered patterns. Poetry described it thus: "Newly appliquéd silk robe, pairs of golden partridges," depicting the beauty of the appliqué decorations on garments. The silk and velvet appliqué craft also demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in the use of raw materials. The main materials selected include silk, brocade, satin, cotton fabric, and phoenix feather gauze. The series is designed in sets, with the color gradually deepening from light to dark, creating an endless charm, resembling the beautiful feathers of a mythical phoenix. The silk and velvet appliqué craft primarily uses phoenix feather gauze as the main material to create decorative artworks that are aesthetically pleasing in material, form, and color.
