Features: The silk and velvet appliqué craft has a long history. Over a thousand years ago, during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period, the Jingchu region of China had its early forms of this craft. There was a local custom where colorful silk was cut and pasted into flower and bird shapes, which were then attached to screens or worn on heads. This custom flourished during the Tang Dynasty, evolving into a unique handicraft known as "appliqué silk" and "velvet piling." Appliqué silk involved cutting single-layer silk fabrics into patterns and pasting them flat, while velvet piling used silk, velvet, or other silk fabrics to cut, pile, and piece together multi-layered patterns. Poetry described it thus: "Newly appliquéd silk robe, with pairs of golden partridges," depicting the beauty of the appliqué decorations on garments. The silk and velvet appliqué craft also demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in the use of materials. Its primary materials include silk, floral velvet, silk gauze, cotton fabric, and phoenix feather gauze. The series is designed in sets, with shades progressing from light to dark, creating an endless charm, resembling the beautiful feathers of a mythical phoenix. The silk and velvet appliqué craft primarily uses phoenix feather gauze to create decorative artworks that are aesthetically pleasing in material, form, and color.
