Why do babies get cerebral palsy

Patient's question:

I got married to my husband very late, and it took us two years to finally have a baby. Our bodies are generally quite healthy, but for some reason, the baby started having health issues right after birth. Recently, when we went to the hospital for a check-up, we found out that the baby has infantile cerebral palsy. Why did my child develop infantile cerebral palsy?

Doctor's answer:

The incidence of cerebral palsy is mostly before or during infancy. The reasons include: congenital injuries, neonatal gallbladder nucleus, brain hypoxia; preterm birth. The main symptoms are increased muscle tone and difficulty with joint movement. In severe cases, muscle stiffness, spasms, and joint retention of flexion posture can be observed. In milder cases, poor micro-movements of the hands and inability to touch the ground with the heels while walking can be seen. These patients often have associated language development, dysarthria, and strabismus. About one-third of patients have varying degrees of convulsions and intellectual disability. Cerebral palsy can cause delayed motor development. Treatment should be conducted under the guidance of a doctor.
