Features: Xia Zengyou pioneered a new trend in historical studies. His historical works can be considered the earliest of the changes in historical scholarship in our century. He explored historical perspectives, the handling of historical materials, and the compilation of historical texts, and reflected his explorations and insights in his works. His achievements in historical studies were limited within a certain scope, partly due to historical circumstances and also due to inherent flaws in his own thinking. New Middle School Chinese History Textbook, in three volumes, two parts, and four chapters, totaling 170 sections (from ancient times to the Sui Dynasty). The original plan was to write five volumes, but only three were actually completed. The first volume was first published in the 30th year of the Guangxu reign (1904), and the sixth edition was published in the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign (1906). The second and third volumes were first published in the same year, and the third volume was published in five editions. In 1933, the Commercial Press published a university textbook, included in the University Series, and renamed it Ancient Chinese History. Additionally, there are works such as Brief Catalogue of Rare Books in the Capital Library, On the Relationship Between China and Japan: Separation and Unity, and On the Necessity of Using History as the Foundation for Reform. These articles were mostly published in periodicals such as New People's Magazine and Eastern Journal.
