Publish Date: 2002-10-18
Features: This textbook is one of the key teaching materials for the "Nineteen-Ninety-Five" Education Ministry, suitable for undergraduate teaching of the history of economic thought in universities. The book covers the main stages of Western economics from ancient to modern times, systematically and concisely discussing the major schools, figures, theories, research methods, and their interrelationships of ancient Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, and modern Western economics (including classical and neoclassical economics), as well as their impacts at the time and later. While primarily focusing on introducing mainstream economics that emerged in different eras and countries, the book also reserves space for those so-called marginal or heterodox theories that later had significant influence or even became mainstream, to more comprehensively present the overall development and evolution of Western economics. In a certain sense, this textbook summarizes the research achievements of our many years of teaching the history of economic thought, while also reflecting the research trends in both Chinese and international economics and the history of economics, incorporating the latest research findings.
