Features: To reflect the actual achievements in television media research in China over the past 20 years and to promote the practice of current domestic television publicity reforms, this book focuses on important topics such as the characteristics of television media, the information content of communication content, the use of communication symbols, on-screen interpersonal communication, and the art of hosts. It selects 30 research articles published by alumni and current faculty and students of our institution since the 1980s, along with 6 papers by television industry professionals, totaling 36 articles. These articles document theoretical explorations and reflections on television media from different perspectives and levels, and the insights they present will benefit a broad range of television professionals in further establishing media awareness and grasping the characteristics and patterns of television communication. These articles emphasize the integration of theory and practice, making them highly valuable for television publicity practice. Alumni of our institution, who are widespread across the television industry, have published a large number of theoretical research articles on television. The selections in this book represent only a small portion of them. In a sense, these articles can also be considered the rational fruits of our institution's foundational teaching in journalism and communication theory since the reform and opening-up, as well as the result of the authors' diligent practice. We wish them continued success in creating even more fruitful theoretical research achievements! The editor's introduction to the general overview of television media research in China over the past 20 years and the commentary on the articles, guided by the spirit of "creating within description," along with the insights into television media concepts and their application approaches, also offer fresh perspectives and are valuable for research and reference by television professionals and students in related fields at universities and colleges.
